DDMC Group Acquires Super Sports Media


DDMC Group announced the acquisition of Super Sports Media for RMB 3.4 billion (around $500 million). Super Sports Media owns the exclusive broadcasting rights of the English Premier League in China until the 2018/19 season. ICC Partners with Xtep


China sporting goods brand Xtep became the official sponsor of the 2017 International Champions Cup (ICC) China fixtures. The deal will see the sportswear brand receive extensive brand exposure throughout event venues and also on pitchside LED boards. Read more on SportsPro (English)


MLB China Extends Partnership with Delta Airlines


Major League Baseball (MLB) China has extended its official partnership with Delta Airlines in an attempt to develop the sport’s popularity in China. The agreement will see the American airline sponsor a series of MLB marketing activities including MLB Baseball Park roadshows, a baseball-featured reality TV show and live coverage of the 2017 Home Run Derby and MLB All-Star Game. Monster Energy Sponsors Banana Summer Open


Banana Summer Open is an international slopestyle snowboarding competition in China. The upcoming event will be held from 22nd – 23rd July in Harbin. NBA China Partners With Manulife-Sinochem


NBA China has signed a partnership deal with insurance company Manulife-Sinochem. The company becomes the official insurance partner of the NBA 5-on-5 elite basketball tournament. BOC Becomes Banking Partner of Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics


Bank of China (BOC) was recently announced as the official banking partner of the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games. KHL Team Kunlun Red Star Moves to Shanghai


KHL Team Kunlun Red Star will move to Shanghai for the 2017/18 season. Sanlin Stadium will be the new home venue for the club whilst a new stadium in Beijing is being built. Construction is expected to be complete in time for the 2018/19 season. Read more on Lanxiong (Chinese)


MLB’s Red Sox Sign 16-year-old Chinese Baseman


Major League Baseball’s Boston Red Sox signed 16-year-old Chinese player Qiang Baren. He is the third player trained in one of the MLB’s China development centres to sign with an MLB team. Read more on Lanxiong (Chinese)
