SHANGHAI, CHINA – PRESS: LIVERPOOL FC TASKS MAILMAN WITH NEW SOCIAL MEDIA CAMPAIGN
In a move which is sure to attract more like it, the Liverpool Football Club (LFC) has appointed the China social media agency Mailman to launch and manage the LFC Chinese Weibo account.
Liverpool Football Club is a favourite with Chinese English football fans. The launch of the Weibo fan page coincides with the current Liverpool Asian tour taking place now. Mailman Group CEO Andrew Collins stated “It’s a relatively easy entry into the Chinese social media space and we expect the fan page to attract a great interest.”
It is reported the Sina owned Weibo micro blog is supporting the news by actively promoting the official Liverpool FC fan page through the Sina portal. Collins added “To have the support of Sina when launching this page shows how important it is for this business to generate more international interest.”
Liverpool FC Managing Director Ian Ayre said: “We’re delighted to be working with Mailman on Weibo and immensely grateful for the support of Sina in allowing us to reach out to our fans on Chinese social media. In over 100 years of history we have never been to mainland China before, so it’s really exciting. It’s important to go to places and give the fans the chance to see what we see every week here at Liverpool, the players up close and the chance to see them play a game.
