UberCARGO has been launched in Hong Kong today, seven months after launching UberTaxi there. UberCARGO is Uber’s response to Asia’s push towards logistic services that allow consumers to quickly and simple organise the delivery of goods through the convenience of an app.
The two big players currently in the Hong Kong logistics market are Gogovan and Lalamove (rebranded from EasyVan). In November last year, Gogovan received a $10 million investment from Renren to help facilitate expansion plans into China. Even though UberCARGO has arrived on the logistics scene later than the other two, it signals what the future of logistic services has in store, both for Asia and the rest of the world.
