Tottenham Hotspur is back in China this month with Argentinian Ossie Ardiles, the ex-Spurs manager, player, and World Cup winner, along with two Spurs coaches. The club earlier in the year announced it’s involvement in a Chinese reality TV show with support from Mailman.
Football Dream, which will be starting its second season, takes football players between 14 and 16 from four provinces in mainland China plus Hong Kong to go through a nationwide training program for an opportunity to train at the world-class facilities of Tottenham Hotspur and Internazionale Milano. During the “Mega Selections” in Beijing, Shanghai, Suzhou, Guangzhou and Hong Kong, legendary players such as Edgar Davids and Ledley King will help pick out the best budding footballers. The winner who progress beyond that stage will journey to Europe and be featured on TV and multiple digital platforms, including live coverage on the Spurs’ social media channels. Mailman will also attend these events, covering it on social media, so keep an eye on Spurs’ Weibo, WeChat, Tencent Video, and Youku accounts for news plus exclusive video footage.
The collaboration between Spurs and Football Dream is to support the growth of football in China at a grassroots level. Football Dream is working with the government through the General Administration of Sport of China, while partnering with the Youth Sports Development Bureau, China Extreme Sports Culture Company and Global Media to develop future football teams by giving youth the chance to have world-class training. The 24 players will compete in a final in Beijing and the winner will receive a full month of professional training at Tottenham Hotspur and Inter Milan. With the TV program and a strong social media reach, Spurs will help Football Dream reach aspiring young footballers for China’s next generation of players.
