We're delighted to announce that Duncan Pointer, the former Vizeum Asia Pacific CEO, has been appointed Managing Director of Mailman's APEC (Asia-Pacific Excluding China) division.
In line with Mailman Group's continued global expansion, Duncan, based out of Singapore, will drive business growth and client services across the APEC region, leading an experienced team of 50+ across Singapore, Thailand, India, Vietnam, Japan, South Korea, Indonesia, Malaysia, and the Philippines. Duncan's experience working in Asia with the world’s leading consumer brands will complement his new role based at the intersection of digital and sports.
APEC has fast become a key focus area for international sports organizations and brands looking to build global media businesses. There were 40M people across Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines, Vietnam and Thailand that came online for the first time in 2020, increasing the total number of internet users in those Southeast Asian countries to 400M, nearly 70% of the region’s population.
Duncan Pointer, Managing Director, Mailman APEC: “To work at a digital sports agency has always been an ambition of mine, so the chance to join Mailman Group was an opportunity I couldn't pass up. With Mailman Group's global expansion plans, and specifically the huge potential we see in Asia-Pacific, we are scaling our business in the region to help clients reach and engage new audiences.”
Duncan has been in Singapore for the last eight years, having relocated with Dentsu International in 2013, and was charged with growing the Vizeum network across the region. During his tenure as Managing Director and then CEO, Vizeum doubled its headcount and saw double-digit growth every year from 2013 onwards. After leaving Dentsu, Duncan joined LanciaConsult, a fast-growing global management consultancy where he launched their Marketing Solutions offering, advising clients on how media, creative, and martech could help grow their businesses.
Andrew Collins, CEO, Mailman Group: “We’re bringing in someone from outside our industry to reshape the business model for global sports across Asia-Pacific. Duncan has the regional expertise, attention to data and internal drive to deliver fresh thinking with our clients as they expand their audiences here. It’s game on.”
Headquartered in Shanghai, Mailman Group expanded into APEC in 2019 with a Singapore office and presence in eight key regions, and earlier in 2020, opened its first North American office as part of a global expansion and mission to become the world’s leading digital sports agency & consultancy. Mailman Group also recently appointed Lewis Wiltshire CEO of its subsidiary Seven League and of the Mailman EMEA region.
